My name is John Russell. I am a Senior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln pursuing a degree in Sports Media & Communications with a minor in Coaching. I was previously part of the Creative Media team in the Nebraska Athletic Department. I worked Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Baseball, and Women's Soccer as a photographer. I also have experience as a videographer, graphic designer, and social media manager.
Since starting photography/videography in 2021, I have been hired to shoot many events such as college/high school basketball, football, soccer, volleyball, signing day events, senior photos, team photos and many other types of events.
My current equipment I use is a Canon R7, EF-S 70-200mm F/2.8, EF-S 24-70mm F/2.8, MacBook Air M1 2020 with 16GB Ram/1 TB storage, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Pro. All of my marketing is through word of mouth and social media.
Outside of photography/videography/graphic design, I am a basketball coach at Omaha Sports Academy in Elkhorn. Coaching is the direction that I want to take my career. It is the most rewarding experience I've had. Coaching is my way of giving back to a sport that has given so much to me. After my anticipated graduation in May 2025, I plan on continuing my education to become a teacher and a coach.
